When it comes to weddings, you learn to expect the unexpected. You also learn to just take it all in stride, because at the end of the day, it’s still your wedding day. If you’ve hired a wedding planner, it’s no longer your job to stress. You may as well enjoy it. And truthfully, those unexpected events make for the best stories later.
Jim and Kelly’s wedding week at Royal West Indies coincided with Hurricane Matthew. The couple flew in a few days earlier to avoid airport shutdowns (which did happen for a few days). There were plenty of travel issues—five guests didn’t make it in the end, and Kelly’s parents managed to arrive just an hour before the ceremony. But as Kelly puts it, “it just made everyone enjoy the island that much more once we were all together.”
The storm came and passed, and Jim and Kelly had a beautiful white wedding on Grace Bay Beach with pastel accents, and a dreamy reception to boot. By the way, there’s an upside to a hurricane during your wedding week: An unreal sunset.
